The Israeli navy killed two Palestinian fishermen in the central waters of the Gaza Strip on Friday morning, June 14, 2024.
Local sources reported that Abdul Muty Rami Al-Habil and his uncle, Muhammad Abdul Muty Al-Habil, were fatally shot by Israeli naval boats while fishing between the cities of Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah.
The sources told Days of Palestine that the Al-Habil family victims originally hailed from Al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, and were displaced to the central Gaza Strip due to the Israeli invasion of the city.
Israel has besieged the Gaza Strip by land, air, and sea for over 17 years, a blockade that has intensified during the ongoing war.
Fishermen face numerous challenges, with the majority losing their livelihoods as Israeli forces have destroyed and burned the majority of their boats and equipment.
A few number of fishermen continue to risk their lives in an attempt to provide for their families
