Israeli naval boats targeted fishermen’s boats off the coast of Beit Lahia town in the northern Gaza Strip with machine gun fire on Monday morning.
Local sources reported that the Israeli naval boats targeted the fishermen’s boats off the coast of the Al-Waha area west of the town, forcing the fishermen to retreat towards the shore.
The Israeli naval forces intentionally inflict harm on the fishermen and deprive them of their livelihoods. They pursue them almost daily at sea, damaging their equipment, confiscating their boats, and arresting some of them on the pretext of crossing the allowed fishing zone.
Since the beginning of the year until the end of June, Israeli naval forces have arrested 15 fishermen and injured 5 others.

In addition to the arrests, the Israeli navy has seized fishing equipment in four separate incidents, causing significant financial losses to the already struggling Palestinian fishermen.
