Israeli naval vessels launched an attack on Palestinian fishermen’s boats in the northern waters of Gaza, on Wednesday morning, September 6, 2023.
According to local sources, Israeli naval boats opened fire with machine guns on the fishermen’s vessels west of the Wahat area, which is situated to the northwest of Gaza City. They also doused the boats with water hoses.
Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries or arrests among the fishermen. Nevertheless, they were compelled to abandon their fishing activities and leave the sea.
Israeli naval forces repeatedly pursue fishers in the Gaza Strip limiting their fishing zone. This zone is allowed up to 6 nautical miles north of the Strip and 15 nautical miles to the south.
From the start of this year until August 27th, Israeli naval forces have carried out over 200 such assaults on Palestinian fishermen and their equipment as they worked along the Gaza coastline.
