DaysofPal- Israeli occupation forces continue to level large areas of agricultural land and uproot hundreds of olive trees in the town of Silat al-Harithiya, west of the city of Jenin.
According to eyewitnesses, the bulldozing operations have focused on destroying farmland in the “Al-Surouj” area located between the towns of Silat al-Harithiya and Al-Yamun. Residents say the measures are part of a plan that would isolate several Palestinian communities behind settlement fencing, effectively turning them into enclosed areas cut off from their surroundings.
The targeted land is estimated to cover between 400 and 450 dunams. Israeli authorities reportedly classify the area as “state land,” although local residents say the plots are privately owned by families from Jenin and have been cultivated with olive trees for more than 30 years.
Local activist Nael Abu al-Ziyoud said that Silat al-Harithiya, like many parts of the occupied West Bank, is facing an aggressive campaign aimed at displacing Palestinians as part of broader settlement expansion plans.
He explained that the bulldozing operations began several months ago and have recently extended to the Hajj Hassan area of Silat al-Harithiya, which he said has been increasingly threatened by settlement growth.
Abu al-Ziyoud warned that the ongoing settlement activities on the ground would sever geographic links between the towns of Anin and Al-Taybeh, leaving them isolated and surrounded by settlement barriers.
Earlier, Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi warned that the opening of the “Sanur” settlement south of Jenin, backed by the Israeli government, represented a dangerous escalation aimed at strengthening Israeli control over Palestinian land in the West Bank.
Mardawi said the developments taking place across the West Bank indicate an unprecedented phase of settlement expansion, which he linked to broader annexation plans and efforts to impose full control over Palestinian territory.
The Hamas official also renewed warnings about settlement projects in the northern West Bank and the reactivation of previously evacuated settlement outposts. He called for intensified public mobilization and resistance efforts to confront settlement expansion plans and protect Palestinian land from the crimes of the occupation and settlers.
