Israeli occupation forces IOF have killed five Palestinians and injured around 91 others during a military incursion in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin on Monday, June 19, 2023.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that five Palestinians, including a child, were killed by Israeli gunfire, and at least 91 others were injured, including at least 23 critical injuries, during the Israeli aggression on Jenin.
In a statement, the Health Ministry pointed out that the victims were identified as Ahmed Saqer, 15, Khalid Asa’sa, 21, Faisal Abu Sariya, 29, Majdi Jabarin, 21, and Ahmed Dagharma, 19.
The injured people were transferred to Ibn Sina and Al-Razi hospitals for treatment, and four of the injuries were described as serious, the statement explained.
Deadly Raid
In the early hours of Monday, Israeli military troops invaded occupied Jenin, triggering confrontations with Palestinian freedom fighters in the area.
Media sources reported that an exchange of fire took place in occupied Jenin as Israeli troops invaded the city and deployed on the roofs of Palestinian buildings.
In addition, Israeli warplanes took part in the incursion and targeted a Palestinian home in the Jabriyat neighborhood in occupied Jenin.
Meanwhile, confrontations broke out in Jenin streets when Israeli troops opened fire and tear gas canisters at Palestinian families.
The aggression on Jenin coincided with military raids in different parts of the occupied West Bank, during which IOF kidnapped at least five Palestinians.
Palestinians Fight Back
The Palestinian resistance in Jenin said that it targeted an Israeli military vehicle invading Jenin, and injured several Israeli soldiers.
Media sources shared videos of an Israeli military vehicle coming under gunfire amid explosions in the background.
Another video showed Israeli helicopters evacuating some injured soldiers from the targeted area in Jenin. The Israeli occupation army didn’t provide further information.
The occupied West Bank city of Jenin has seen escalating violence by Israeli occupation forces since the start of 2023. IOF has frequently invaded Jenin and caused casualties.
On a semi-daily basis, Israeli troops carry out military raids in the West Bank cities, terrorizing Palestinian families, kidnapping, or/and even killing Palestinians.
So far in 2023, Israeli occupation forces and settlers have killed about 170 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
