17 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip since the beginning of 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Based on data collected by the Palestinian health ministry, Israeli forces have shot and killed 16 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank, and a 10-year-old Palestinian child in Gaza succumbed to head wounds he sustained during the Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip in August 2022.
All of the slain children are under the age of 17, the youngest aged 10, the ministry added.
The 17 children killed in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip were identified as:
Omar Mohammad Omar Awadin (14) was fatally shot in the back with live ammunition while he was riding his bike outside his parents’ shop in Jenin on March 16.
Amir Mamoun Mohammad Odeh (14) was shot and killed near the northern entrance to Qalqilya in the northern occupied West Bank. Amir sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, below his left armpit on March 10.
Waleed Saad Daoud Nassar (15) died on March 9 at Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem after an Israeli soldier shot him in the abdomen with an expanding bullet on March 7 in Jenin while withdrawing from Jenin refugee camp after an Israeli military raid.
Mohammad Nidal Ibrahim Salim (17) was fatally shot in the back with live ammunition by Israeli forces on March 2 in Azzun, a Palestinian town northeast of Qalqilya in the occupied West Bank
Mohammad Farid Mohammad Sha’ban (16) was shot and killed by Israeli forces during an Israeli military into Nablus on February 22.
Montaser Mohammad Deeb Shawwa (16) died on February 20 after an Israeli sniper shot him in the mouth on February 8 during a raid on the Balata refugee camp, near Nablus.
Mahmoud Majed Mohammad Ayed (17) was shot in the head and killed in Far’a refugee camp, NE of Nablus in the occupied West Bank on February 14.
Qusai Radwan Yousef Waked (14) was shot and killed on February 13 near the Jenin refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank.
Hamza Amjad Yousef Ashqar (16) was shot and killed in Al-Masaken Al-Sha’bya, near the New Askar refugee camp east of Nablus. An Israeli soldier shot Hamza in the mouth and the left side of his waist.
Nayef Khaled Nayef Al-Odat (10) died on January 26 from head wounds he sustained from an Israeli airstrike in Gaza in August.
Wadea Abdulaziz Meri Abu Ramouz (17) was shot on January 25 and he sustained a gunshot wound below his heart. He was under arrest & guarded in the hospital, even in the ICU. He died at Shaare Zedek Medical Center at 11pm on January 27.
Abdullah Marwan Juma’a Mousa (17) was shot in the chest, Israeli forces prevented an ambulance from reaching him for about ten minutes during an Israeli military raid into Jenin on January 26.
Wasim Amjad Aref Abu Jaes (16) died after an Israeli military vehicle ran over him after Israeli forces fired live ammo at a group of Palestinian youth on January 26 in Jenin.
Amer Khaled Lufti Al-Khamour (14) was shot in the head with live ammunition in the Dheisheh refugee camp outside of Bethlehem on January 16.
Amer Ghazi Mahmoud Zeitoun (16) was shot and killed during a raid on the Balata refugee camp, outside Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank on January 5.
Adam Issam Shaker Ayyad (15) was shot and killed in the Dheisheh refugee camp just outside of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank. Adam sustained at least one gunshot wound to the back of his shoulder on January 3.
Fuad Mahmoud Ahmad Abed (17) was shot in Kafr Dan, near Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank. He sustained multiple gunshots to his abdomen, pelvis, and legs on January 2.
Since the start of 2023, 89 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip, including 17 children and an elderly woman. It’s the bloodiest start to a year since 2000, according to the health ministry.
