Nine Palestinians, including journalists, were injured during Friday demonstrations along the Gaza Strip’s eastern border during marches held in support of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that nine individuals suffered various injuries inflicted by Israeli forces, including some being hit directly by tear gas canisters.
According to media sources, one young man was injured by a gas bomb launched by the Israeli forces towards the demonstrators east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
In the eastern part of Gaza City, Israeli forces fired gas and live bullets at the protesters in the Malaka area, resulting in one young man being shot. Additionally, journalists covering the demonstrations were directly targeted.
Attacks Against Journalists
Palestinian journalist Ashraf Abu Amra was also injured by a rubber bullet in his hand, and journalist Mariam Abu Daqqa was wounded as well.
Palestinian media sources shared a video documenting the moment IOF intensively fired tear gas canisters at a group of Palestinian Journalists east of Khan Younis. Abu Amra was captured screaming and bleeding.
It was noted that Israeli forces directly fired a gas bomb at a vehicle of the “French Agency” on the eastern border of Khan Yunis.
During these protests, Palestinian youth launched incendiary balloons toward settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip, amid gunfire from Israeli forces stationed in military towers along the border.
On Friday, hundreds of Palestinians gathered near the Gaza fence to take part in marches organized in support of Al-Aqsa Mosque and in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners.
The Israeli military deployed heavily armed forces and sniper units near the Gaza fence to quell the protests, which unfolded in the eastern regions of the Gaza Strip.
For Palestinian youth in Gaza, life has been marked by the long-lasting repercussions of Israel’s blockade, which began in 2006.
This blockade, encompassing land, air, and sea, exerts strict control over all facets of life in Gaza. Its enduring impact has taken a toll on the region’s economic stability, affecting the daily lives of the whole population.
