Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
Israeli municipality bulldozers today, Wednesday, demolished a house owned by the Helissi family in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Local sources reported that the Israeli occupation forces “cut down” the house of Sultan Helisi in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood in Silwan, under the pretext of building without a permit.
Halissi said that he has been living in the sixty-square-meter house with his wife and four children, the eldest of whom is 13 years old and the youngest of whom is six, since 2014.
He added that during the past year, the Israeli occupation authorities informed us to self-demolish the house under the pretext of building without a permit, and they refused to implement the order.
Today, the mechanisms of the occupation municipality began to demolish the house and we were charged with the costs of the demolition, knowing that the occupation authorities relied on mowing machines due to the difficulty of bulldozers reaching the house.”
