Jenin, West Bank — Israeli occupation forces have intensified their assault on the city and refugee camp of Jenin for the seventh consecutive day, with a particular focus on the eastern neighborhood and the village of “Mithalath al-Shuhada.” This ongoing assault has resulted in the death of 18 Palestinians from the area.
Local sources report that Israeli forces launched a major incursion into the village of Mithalath al-Shuhada using several military vehicles, accompanied by foot troops, and positioned snipers on the rooftops of various buildings.
The sources also noted that during the raid, Israeli forces detained four individuals from the same family: Mohammad and Mahmoud Hussein Darwish, Mutei and Maher Ali Darwish, and the young man Majd Mazen Ali Darwish.
According to the same sources, a group of Palestinian youths targeted Israeli forces with locally-made explosives in the village of Mithalath al-Shuhada.
Earlier reports from the Palestinian Ministry of Health revealed that the total number of Palestinians killed as a result of Israeli incursions in the West Bank has reached 29, with 121 injured. The breakdown includes 18 fatalities in Jenin, 4 in Tubas, 4 in Tulkarm, and 3 in Hebron since last Wednesday.
The Ministry of Health further reported that the death toll in the West Bank has risen to 681, with approximately 5,700 wounded since October 7 of last year. Among the deceased are 5 children and 2 elderly individuals.
A joint statement from the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners Club, received by Days of Palestine, indicated that the number of detainees since the onset of the Israeli aggression in northern West Bank has surged to around 130 prisoners.
