In the early hours of Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Israeli occupation forces IOF launched a wide-scale arrest campaign in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem. According to local sources, several individuals were detained, and confrontations between the Israeli forces and Palestinians ensued.
In Aqaba Jabr camp in Jericho, Ibrahim Al-Alam, Shadi Kamal, Yasser Kamal, Yamen Kamal, and Mohammed Bassem Hameedat were among those arrested. Additionally, a young man was shot in the thigh, while dozens suffocated from gas inhalation. The Israeli forces prevented emergency medical crews from reaching the injured individuals in the camp.
In Bethlehem, Adam Abu Laban, Ramzi Abu Al-Raz, Ahmed Asaad, and Fadi Al-Harimi were arrested after IOF raided their homes in Al-Dheisheh camp.
In Ramallah, Mohammed Walid Abu Awad from the village of Turmus Ayya, as well as Noor Al-Azza and Abd Ahmed from Qaddura camp, were detained.
In Jenin, the father of the young man Mohammed Kamil from Qabatiya town, south of the city, was arrested.
In occupied Jerusalem, the Israeli occupation forces arrested Abdul Abu Sayyimah, Bisan Obeid, Majd Abd Darwish, Mohammed Mustafa, Kamal Mustafa, and Islam Sarrour.
The recent wave of arrests has caused tension and unrest among the Palestinian population, with confrontations erupting between protesters and Israeli forces in various areas.
