In a video that went viral on social media, a Palestinian youth identified as Ziad Abu Nab was seen sustaining severe injuries in his head as he was shockingly attacked, beaten and pushed to the ground by a number of Israeli occupation soldiers at Bab Al-Amoud area, one of the gates of the Old City of Jerusalem.
As he tried to flee their savage onslaught, the soldiers chased after him, trapped him in a narrow corner, and struck the man’s head with a glass bottle, causing him critical injuries.
The young man was subsequently handcuffed, blindfolded and dragged from Jerusalem’s Bab Al-Amoud area to a nearby Israeli investigation centre, where he will undergo indefinite investigative conditions.
Witnesses said the man posed no threat to the soldiers. He was only sitting in the area talking with others.
Israeli police usually attack Palestinians gathering at Bab al-Amoud, banning any social or cultural activities at the plaza.
Jerusalemite analysts confirmed that Israeli forces and police are trying to empty the Old City of Jerusalem of its people ahead of the Jewish holiday taking place in the upcoming days.
According to the Information Centre for Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Affairs, “This month of holidays is deemed a fertile season of brutal attacks and gross violations against Palestinians”.
