The Israeli occupation forces continued their violations of the rights of the Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank, as they uprooted dozens of olive saplings and razed agricultural lands in the town of Kafr al-Dik, west of Salfit, on Wednesday.
According to local sources, the Israeli bulldozers uprooted about 20 olive saplings, ranging in age from 4 to 6 years, and bulldozed dozens of dunums of land, to pave the way for a new settlement road. The road is planned to be 400 meters long and 8 meters wide, and will connect the illegal settlements of Peduel and Alei Zahav, which are built on the lands of Kafr al-Dik and Deir Ballut.
The sources said that the area targeted by the Israeli occupation is called “Deiriya”, and it is located west of Kafr al-Dik. The area is rich in olive trees and other crops, and it is considered one of the main sources of income for many Palestinian families.
The sources added that the Israeli occupation forces have been intensifying their attacks on the Palestinian lands and properties in Kafr al-Dik and the surrounding villages, in order to expand the existing settlements and build new ones. The Israeli occupation has also imposed restrictions on the movement of the Palestinian farmers and denied them access to their lands, especially during the olive harvest season.
The Israeli occupation has been systematically confiscating and destroying the Palestinian lands and resources in the occupied West Bank, in violation of the international law and human rights. According to a recent report by Peace Now, an Israeli anti-settlement group, the Israeli occupation has approved more than 12,000 settlement units in 2023, which is a record high since 1992. The report also said that more than 80% of these units are located deep inside the West Bank, which would undermine any possibility of establishing a viable and contiguous Palestinian state.
