DaysofPal—At least seven people were killed and several others injured, some critically, in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Wafa Hospital in central Gaza late Sunday morning, December 29, 2024.
The strike targeted the hospital’s penultimate floor, causing devastating damage and resulting in the deaths of patients and civilians inside.
Emergency responders from Gaza’s Civil Defense later confirmed the toll, reporting that seven bodies were recovered from the site while rescuers treated a number of severely injured victims.
The attack on Al-Wafa Hospital is the latest in a series of assaults on medical facilities across Gaza. Earlier this morning, artillery fire struck the upper floor of the radiology building at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, causing significant structural damage but no immediate reports of casualties.
Two days ago, Israeli forces stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital after a prolonged siege, setting sections of the facility ablaze and forcibly removing patients, medical staff, and injured civilians.
Witnesses described harrowing scenes of gunfire and shelling outside the hospital as Israeli forces detained several individuals and forced others to strip in freezing conditions before being evacuated under duress.
These attacks come amid the ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza, now in its 450th day, marked by relentless airstrikes and artillery barrages that human rights organizations have condemned as war crimes.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has accused Israel of systematically targeting civilians and medical infrastructure as part of its war in the besieged territory.
