Israeli occupation issued Wednesday night, September 13th, 2023, demolition orders against six Palestinian-owned facilities in Jericho’s town of Al-Auja.
Palestinian Mohammed Romanin said he was shocked when he saw notices of demolitions placed by Israeli occupation forces on six of his commercial warehouses, each built on an estimated area of 66 square meters beside Al-Auja Street 90 since 2020.
The man was given only four days to evacuate and empty the places, he added.
Confrontations between Palestinian young men and Israeli occupation forces erupted in the walk of notifying the residents of Israel’s imminent demolitions of their property under flimsy pretexts of building without Israel’s permit. No Injuries were reported, eyewitnesses said.
On Tuesday, three Palestinian-owned houses were also threatened with demolition, while other 14 received construction halt in AL-Dyouk Al-Tahta, west of Jericho.
During the last seven days, Israeli forces stormed Al-Dyouk Al-Tahta several times, wreaked havoc in different places, and provoked its residents by disseminating dozens of demolition orders at the owners, who have dwelled in the area for more than tens of years, said field activist Alla’a Fahidat.
Local sources indicated that the number of the town’s houses threatened with demolition by Israeli forces has reached 50 in just a few days.
Under its policy of ethnic cleansing and seizure of Palestinian lands, the Israeli occupation deliberately hands over demolition notices to Palestinians to compel them to sell their homes and property to settlement organizations, which legalizes the settlement expansion in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
Otherwise, Palestinians have to pay a punitive amount of money to the ‘Israeli occupation court’ and carry out self-demolition in case of rejection.
