Israeli forces killed three Palestinians on Thursday in the southern Gaza Strip, as violations of the ceasefire agreement continued, according to local sources.
A young man, Baha Mohammed Al-Fajam, was shot dead by Israeli forces in the town of Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis.
Separately, Rami Ibrahim Rizq Abu Qursheen died from wounds he sustained in an Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis several months ago.
Meanwhile, Basel Al-Haimouni, a former Palestinian prisoner from the city of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank, was killed after succumbing to injuries caused by an Israeli strike that targeted him in Gaza on Wednesday. Al-Haimouni had been forcibly exiled to Gaza following his release in the 2011 Wafa al-Ahrar prisoner exchange deal.
The Prisoners’ Media Office said Al-Haimouni spent many years in Israeli prisons before his release and exile, adding that his killing reflects Israel’s continued targeting of freed prisoners as part of a policy of collective punishment.
In parallel, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes early Thursday on several areas across the Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces also carried out home demolitions east of Gaza City.
Additional airstrikes were reported east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, while Israeli artillery shelled eastern parts of Gaza City.
Israeli military vehicles opened fire east of Khan Younis, as Israeli helicopters fired toward Rafah in southern Gaza and east of Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
Israeli naval boats opened heavy fire off the coasts of Khan Younis and Rafah, while another airstrike struck eastern Khan Younis.
The latest violations followed a deadly escalation a day earlier in which 24 Palestinians were killed, including eight children, three women, and a paramedic.
Since the ceasefire took effect, Israeli forces have killed 576 Palestinians, including 179 children and 69 women, and wounded 1,526 others.
Since the start of Israel’s war on October 7, 2023, more than 71,803 Palestinians have been killed and over 171,570 wounded, with nearly 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure destroyed, according to Palestinian and UN figures.
