According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs, Israeli occupation authorities have issued 153 administrative detention orders including 58 orders issued against new detainees. In addition, the Israeli occupation authorities renewed the administrative detention for 95 Palestinian prisoners.
The commission added in a statement on Friday, July 1, 2022, that this constitutes a proof that the occupation government still use this policy as a part of collective punishment practiced against the Palestinian people.
Administrative detention is an Israeli arbitrary policy where Palestinians are held without charge or trial, for allegedly planning to commit a future offense. In the administrative detention, Palestinians are placed behind the bars of Israeli prisons for periods ranging from several months to several years.
Israel still illegally holds up to 600 Palestinians in administrative detention in its prisons without charging them or even without telling them what they are accused of.
