DaysofPal- An Irish artist has unveiled a mural in Dublin depicting FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal holding a Palestinian flag, in a move that has drawn attention both in Ireland and internationally.
The artwork, painted at Dalymount Park, the home stadium of Bohemian FC, captures a moment when the 18-year-old winger raised the Palestinian flag during celebrations following Barcelona’s Spanish league title win over Real Madrid.
The mural is accompanied by a message linked to the “Stop the Match” campaign, which is calling for the cancellation of upcoming fixtures between the Republic of Ireland and Israel in the UEFA Nations League.
Yamal, who is of Moroccan descent, was seen holding the flag after it was handed to him by fans during celebrations in the streets of Catalonia.
The images quickly circulated online, sparking widespread debate in Spain and beyond.
Supporters praised the young player for a public show of solidarity with Palestinians, while the moment also fueled political and sporting discussions across Europe.
The mural comes amid growing calls within Ireland to reconsider sporting ties with the Israeli occupation.
Prominent Irish footballers and public figures have previously urged the Football Association of Ireland to boycott upcoming matches against Israeli occupation, citing the ongoing war in Gaza.
The development highlights the increasing intersection of sports, art, and political expression, as athletes and cultural figures continue to influence public discourse on global issues.
