Israeli occupation forces IOF conducted a series of arrests in the West Bank early Sunday, August 13, 2023, resulting in the detention of eight Palestinians and the injury of a young man.
Reports from the ground indicate that Israeli forces arrested a total of eight Palestinians from different areas across the West Bank. These arrests have taken place in various towns and villages, causing distress and tension among the local population.
Among those detained were Murad Saadi Al-Qawasameh from Hebron, Jamal Emad Dhiab from Deir Istiya, Hassan Awad from Askar Al-Jadid refugee camp, and Khaled Ghassan Tayeh from Al-Fare’a refugee camp in Tubas. Other arrests occurred in Ramallah, where three citizens were detained and another was summoned for an intelligence meeting.
Additionally, in the town of Ni’lin near Ramallah, IOF invaded the home of Khalil Ibrahim Sorour and handed his son Muhammad a summon to appear before intelligence officials.
This incident has sparked concerns within the community, as it occurred just a day before Muhammad’s wedding.
In Jenin, confrontations broke out in the town of Yamoun, leading to the injury of a young man by shrapnel from Israeli occupation forces’ bullets.
Israeli forces continue to engage in semi-daily incursions and arrests across the West Bank, perpetuating a climate of fear and instability for Palestinian communities. These routine operations involve raids on Palestinian homes, arbitrary detentions, and the disruption of daily life.
Significantly, IOF carried out a substantial wave of arrests during the month of June, targeting a total of 380 Palestinians, including 45 children and 10 women, across the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, as documented by the Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Studies.
