Israeli occupation forces (IOF) demolished Sunday, May 7, 2023, a Palestinian school in Beit Ta’mur village in the east of occupied Bethlehem.
Local Palestinian sources reported that the IOF stormed the village at dawn today and started demolishing the “Challenge 5” basic school.
As a result, confrontations broke out between the Israeli gangs and the Palestinian citizens, during which the Israeli troops fired sound and tear gas bombs at the citizen, suffocating dozens.
On March 6, 2023, the Israeli occupation court decided to demolish the “Challenge 5” school and rejected the Palestinian appeal related to freezing the demolition decision.
It’s reported that 66 Palestinian students study in this school between the first to sixth grades.
In 2017, Israeli troops demolished the Challenge 5 school, which was built on land donated by Palestinian citizens. Then, it was rebuilt again.
In response, the Palestinian Ministry of Education condemned the Israeli demolition of the school, which deprives Palestinian students of their right to study safely.
It confirmed that this crime is one of the Israeli systematic violations against the Palestinian educational sector, which is a clear violation of international humanitarian laws and norms.
