The Israeli occupation forces IOF approved on Monday, July 11, new colonial projects aiming to expand a group of Israeli settlements built on the Palestinian-owned lands in the West Bank and Jerusalem, according to the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ).
ARIJ revealed in a report that the colonial projects aim to expand the settlements established in a number of Palestinian cities, including Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Al-Bireh, Jenin, and Salfit. According to the report, seven out of nine settlements established on the Palestinian lands located on the western side of the apartheid wall will be expanded.
The report added that the Israeli occupation authorities approved the building of 1,061 new settlement units in the illegal settlement of Beitar Illit established in Bethlehem, in addition to several settlement units in Mifu Huron and Efrat settlements.
It stressed that all Israeli establishment and expansion of the settlements across the West Bank and Jerusalem violate international law and international humanitarian law.
The report underlined that Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 states that the occupation authority doesn’t have the right to transfer its citizens to the lands it occupied or to make any demographic change thereon.
