Iranians participated in the funeral procession for Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, which was held today, Thursday Aug. 1st, in Iran’s capital Tehran.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei led prayers for the Haniyeh at the University of Tehran, having earlier threatened a “harsh punishment” for his killing.
Thousands of Iranian mourners carrying posters of Haniyeh and Palestinian flags gathered for the ceremony at Tehran University in the capital’s city centre.
Haniyeh’s body was then moved to Qatar’s capital Doha on Thursday afternoon, ahead of his burial on Friday.
