DaysofPal— The International Criminal Court (ICC) is reportedly examining the possibility of issuing arrest warrants against senior Israeli war criminals.
The Hebrew-language newspaper Maariv reported on Tuesday that potential warrants could target high-ranking figures in the Israeli occupation forces, including the Chief of Staff and the head of the Southern Command.
The report added that the court may also consider issuing arrest warrants against members of the Israeli government, including the ministers of defense and finance, as well as the minister of national security.
Israeli fanatic Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Tuesday that the ICC had already issued an arrest warrant against him, describing the move as a “declaration of war.”
In a related development, earlier media reports revealed that the Office of the Prosecutor at the ICC had submitted a confidential request last month seeking arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials, including Smotrich.
According to reports cited by Middle East media, the request was filed on April 2 and includes war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza strip.
If pursued, the move could place prominent Israeli figures under international legal scrutiny.
