The head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, received a phone call from the United Nations Coordinator, Tor Wencesland, where they discussed recent political and field developments, arrests done by the Israeli occupation, incursions, the settlements in the occupied West Bank, and the closure of crossings to and from Gaza, on Wednesday.
The movement’s leader stressed the need to stop the Israeli occupation of all its attacks against the Palestinian people and the need to stop the settlement expansion policy and storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, considering that these measures would restrict the Palestinian people and lead to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
He added that Palestinians are facing a systematic policy carried out by the Israeli occupation from the north of the West Bank to its south as a nod to the arrests of Palestinians and the forming of illegal settlements in the vicinity and the expansion of already existing ones. He also mentioned the ongoing blockade on Gaza Strip, which is a condemned and rejected the policy.
Haniya called on the United Nations to play its role in stopping these crimes committed by the Israeli occupation and to assume its responsibility also in delivering aid of fuel and flour to the Palestinian people. Especially refugees, warning of the raise in prices of these main commodities and the repercussions of this matter on their livelihood.
He said that the threats made by the leaders of the Israeli occupation, especially Gantz, are unacceptable, and the occupation must be restrained and prevented from harming the Palestinian people, stressing that the United Nations has a major role in this context
