DaysofPal- Senior Hamas leader Osama Hamdan affirmed that Hamas can continue fulfilling its role in defending the Palestinian people and their national rights.
In a press statement on Sunday, Hamdan said the coming period would demonstrate the Movement’s strength and the solidity of its organizational structure, stressing that “there is not a single leader within Hamas who opposes the decision of October 7, neither secretly nor publicly.”
He dismissed claims of internal divisions over the issue as fabrications serving the Israeli occupation’s narrative.
Hamdan emphasized that the decision to resist is not exclusive to Hamas but rather a purely Palestinian popular decision that predates the movement and will continue beyond it.
He noted that the Palestinian people have been resisting for nearly a century, adding that attempts to link Israeli crimes to the resistance constitute propaganda aimed at promoting submission and surrender.
He further stated that the occupation does not differentiate between Palestinian factions in its aggression, but views all Palestinians as enemies, whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem.
Hamdan pointed out that none of the political settlement agreements have protected Palestinians from land confiscation, Judaization, or killing.
Regarding the ceasefire agreement, Hamdan said that the Israeli occupation continues to violate the deal daily, resulting in the killing of more than 400 Palestinians since it came into effect, most of them women and children.
He also said the Israeli occupation of blocking the entry of medical and humanitarian aid and obstructing the rehabilitation of infrastructure.
He stressed that Hamas reserves its full right to respond to these violations, warning that the collapse of the agreement would undermine the credibility of any future international guarantees, not only for Palestinians, but globally.
Hamdan explained that Hamas is maintaining ongoing contacts with mediators in Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey to launch negotiations for the second phase of the agreement, but said the Israeli occupation remains committed to sabotaging the entire process.
He called on the United States to assume its responsibilities as a guarantor of the agreement.
On proposals to deploy an international force in Gaza, Hamdan said Palestinian factions would only accept a force tasked with guaranteeing the ceasefire and preventing renewed aggression, stationed on Gaza’s borders, with no internal authority, no contact with the Palestinian population, and no interference with the weapons of the resistance.
He warned that any force seeking to disarm the resistance by force would be treated as an occupying force, stressing that Palestinians would not accept a substitute or proxy occupation.
Commenting on the assassination of Qassam Brigades commander Raed Saad, Hamdan said the slain leader had devoted his life entirely to the Palestinian cause and the defense of his land and people.
He stressed that Saad’s killing does not signal weakness or retreat but rather the continuation of a path led by generations raised in the same school of resistance.
Hamdan reiterated that Hamas honors the agreements it signs but will not accept the continuation of Israeli violations without response.
He also pointed to a broad Palestinian national desire to end internal division and achieve unity, asserting that Israel is the only party opposed to such unity because it recognizes that Palestinian unity poses a major obstacle to its colonial project.
He noted that repeated efforts have taken place in Cairo in recent weeks to bring Palestinian factions together with Egyptian support and affirmed that Hamas continues to extend its hand to all Palestinian forces, including Fatah, based on a shared national program.
Addressing the global repercussions of Israeli crimes, Hamdan called on Jews around the world to clearly declare that the Israeli occupation does not represent them, stating that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is leading a Nazi, terrorist project.
He held the international community responsible for its silence in the face of the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
