The Islamic Bloc of Hamas has achieved a sweeping victory in the elections for the student council of Birzeit University in Occupied West Bank on Wednesday 18 May 2022.
The university elections took place in the most liberal of all West Bank Palestinian universities.
Annalists say that the results are a reliable indicator of the mood on the Palestinian street that support the Palestinian resistance at the expense of the settlement project of the week Palestinian authority.
Moreover, observers deem Hamas triumph in the university election as a political earthquake and a sea change in the mood in the West Bank.
Others see it as an indicator at the public rejection of the Palestinian authority as well as its dominant party Fatah in the occupied West Bank.
It’s noteworthy that Israeli occupation forces kidnapped the students of the Islamic bloc after an electoral confrontation took place in the university prior the election.
