DayofPal– Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri stated Tuseday that the group is open to discuss any deal that secures an end to the war in Gaza coupled with a complete Israeli army pull-out.
In a statement, Sami Abu Zuhri emphasized Hamas’s openness to negotiating with mediators on fresh proposals for a ceasefire, noting that additional meetings are on the horizon to advance this dialogue.
“We responded to the mediators’ request to discuss new proposals for a ceasefire agreement,” he said.
Abu Zuhri highlighted that the Hamas delegation has reaffirmed its willingness to consider measures aimed at ending the war, withdrawing Israeli forces from Gaza, lifting the long blockade, permitting humanitarian aid to flow into the Strip, and facilitating a meaningful exchange of prisoners.
He further urged an immediate cessation of normalization agreement by Arab countries that have established relations with the occupying state of Israel.
“It’s inconceivable for numerous foreign nations to pursue such actions while certain Arab nations continue to maintain ties and normalize relations with the enemy,” he stated.
In addition, Abu Zuhri denounced the recent vote in the Israeli Knesset to ban the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied territories, calling it an extension of the Zionist war against the Palestinian people, their land, and their rights.
Labeling this move a flagrant violation of international law, he called world’s states for expelling Israel from the United Nations and implementing sanctions against it.
He also took aim at Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for his provocative remarks promoting the expansion of settlements and the displacement of Palestinians during the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Abu Zuhri described these statements as a troubling extension of the aggressive policies upheld by the Israeli government.
Abu Zuhri called on all nations to reject such rhetoric and take action to halt Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people, their land, and holy sites. He urged Arab and Islamic forces to join in this struggle against the occupation to demonstrate that Palestinians and Lebanese are not alone in their fight.
In closing his statement, Abu Zuhri renewed his call for widespread protests in every public square and for surrounding Israeli embassies and those of supportive nations around the world.
He declared that “the Palestinian people will stand firm in their land and sacred sites, regardless of the sacrifices they must make.”
