DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement announced that it has conducted a series of meetings and consultations with mediators in Cairo to discuss completing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
The group said it is working toward submitting its final response to the latest proposals once internal consultations with its leadership and other Palestinian factions are complete.
According to the statement, discussions focused on fulfilling the commitments of the first phase of the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement, as well as preparations for talks on arrangements for a second phase. These deliberations are taking place in light of a plan put forward by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Hamas stated that its engagement, along with other Palestinian factions, has been marked by a high level of responsibility and a constructive approach toward the proposals. The goal, it said, is to reach an agreement that is broadly acceptable.
The movement added that it remains committed to maintaining communication with mediators to overcome obstacles. It reiterated that a final response will be delivered after completing internal consultations.
Despite the ceasefire being theoretically in effect, Israel has consistently bypassed its commitments, carrying out daily violations through shelling and gunfire, which continue to result in casualties.
In mid-January, Donald Trump announced the start of a second phase within his plan, which aligns with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
Since the ceasefire came into force, Israel has failed to meet key obligations outlined in the agreement. These include halting military operations and allowing the entry of agreed quantities of food, humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and shelter materials.
