DaysofPal- Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza, urged the wider Islamic world, its charitable institutions, scholars, and leaders to assume their responsibilities in strengthening Palestinian resilience and accelerating the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, describing the enclave as a “steadfast fortress for the nation on the path to liberation.”
In a recorded address delivered to the general assembly of Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami in Lahore, al-Hayya warned of escalating threats targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem. He pointed to the increasing Israeli incursions and ongoing attempts to impose new temporal and spatial divisions at the holy site.
Al-Hayya said that the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation marked a turning point in global awareness about the Palestinian cause, helping to undermine the Israeli narrative and expand international solidarity with Palestine. He added that the events also contributed to strengthening unity across the Muslim world in its efforts to confront the dangers facing the region.
The gathering in Lahore, held before the iconic Minar-e-Pakistan, brought together scholars, political leaders, and representatives from several Islamic countries.
In his message, al-Hayya expressed Hamas’s deep appreciation for Pakistan, its leadership, people, and military, recalling the historic stances of the country’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who firmly supported Palestinian rights and refused to grant legitimacy to Israel’s occupation.
He also praised the renowned thinker Muhammad Iqbal for shaping Islamic identity and linking it to the struggles of the Muslim nation.
Reaffirming long-held positions, al-Hayya stressed that Palestine is “an Islamic endowment and the property of the entire Muslim nation,” noting that Hamas looks to Pakistan to play a historic role in supporting the liberation of Palestine and defending Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He reiterated that Hamas “will never recognize the Zionist entity,” asserting that the Palestinian people and their resistance have thwarted the objectives Israel declared at the onset of its latest assault on the Gaza Strip.
On the sidelines of the conference, a Hamas delegation led by Marwan Abu Ras held meetings with Ali al-Qaradaghi, Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, as well as leaders of various Islamic parties and groups from participating countries. Additional meetings were held with several Kashmiri leaders.
