DaysfoPal- The Hamas Movement has strongly rejected recent statements made by an Israeli military commander overseeing the Gaza Division, describing them as false claims aimed at justifying ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement.
Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for Hamas, said on Saturday that allegations suggesting the movement was intending to abduct Israeli soldiers were “baseless” and part of a broader attempt by Israeli occupation to legitimize its crimes on the ground.
Qassem also criticized remarks attributed to the Israeli commander, indicating that withdrawal from the yellow line was not under consideration and that the Israeli forces were awaiting an opportunity to resume fighting in Gaza.
He said such statements represent a clear breach of the ceasefire agreement and demonstrate the Israeli ongoing intent to undermine the deal.
The Hamas spokesperson called on international mediators and guarantor states, as well as the “peace council,” to take a firm stance against Israeli violations and to pressure the Israeli occupation to adhere to its commitments.
He emphasized that Hamas remains fully committed to the terms of the ceasefire.
According to Hamas, Israeli forces have continued escalating violations since the ceasefire was announced, targeting civilian tents, homes, and police facilities in Gaza.
The movement said these violations are aimed at destabilizing the territory and spreading chaos.
Hamas-provided figures indicate that since the ceasefire began, at least 713 people have been killed and 1,943 injured, with 756 bodies reportedly recovered by Israeli attacks.
The movement also stated that the overall death toll in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,289, with 172,043 reported injuries.
There has been no immediate response from Israeli authorities regarding Hamas’s latest statements.
