The Palestinian Resistance Islamic movement Hamas condemned on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the Israeli occupation judiciary’s release of a settler accused of killing the Palestinian teen Qusai Maatan in Ramallah.
In a statement, the movement said that the release of Maatan represents a green light for the settlers to commit further violations and crimes against the Palestinian people, territory, and sanctities.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem expressed deep concern over the release of the accused settler and the implications it holds for the Palestinian people.
He emphasized that this incident underscores the broader systemic challenges that Palestinians face under the occupation, including the seemingly coordinated efforts to suppress their rights and aspirations.
On August 5, Israeli occupation authorities released the settler Elisha Yared, who was one of the settlers accused of the killing of Qusai Moutan, 19 years old, in the village of Burqa, east of Ramallah.
