DaysofPal- The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza has reported that at least 58 Palestinians were killed and 213 others wounded in Israeli airstrikes across the besieged enclave in the last 24 hours.
The ministry warned that the number is likely to rise, as “several victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, unable to be reached by ambulances and Civil Defense crews.”
Since the collapse of a fragile ceasefire on March 18, Israeli attacks have killed 1,449 Palestinians and injured 3,647, according to the ministry’s latest figures.
Residents of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza described a terrifying night as Israeli warplanes roared overhead and launched repeated sonic booms.
“We woke today to the sound of Israeli fighter jets producing sonic booms, terrifying everybody here in Deir el-Balah,” a local resident said. “This area has been the epicentre of the Israeli air raids over the past 12 hours.”
Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed that an Israeli airstrike struck a home in the western part of Deir el-Balah, killing 11 members of the same family. The house was reportedly targeted without prior warning.
Local sources reported that nine Palestinians, including three children, were killed when Israeli warplanes struck another home west of Deir el-Balah. Elsewhere, one Palestinian was killed and several others injured when an Israeli drone attacked the area near Al-Wahda Tower in western Gaza City.
In a separate incident, seven Palestinians, including two children, were killed when Israeli forces targeted a free food distribution center in western Khan Younis. The center had been providing meals to displaced families amid widespread shortages.
Two more Palestinians were killed when an Israeli drone targeted a café near Asdaa city, north of Khan Younis. Additional injuries were reported in a separate drone strike that hit a civilian gathering in the Qizan al-Najjar area of the same city.
Other deadly attacks occurred across the Gaza Strip. One civilian was killed in an Israeli shelling on Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis. Three Palestinians were killed in northern Gaza when Israeli shells hit a civilian gathering near the “General Security Junction” northwest of Gaza City.
Five others were killed in twin strikes on gatherings in the Zeitoun neighborhood and Jabalia town. Two more were killed in Israeli artillery fire on Al-Nuzaz Street in the Shujaiya neighborhood. A further casualty was recorded in an attack near Al-Wahda Tower, where others were also wounded.
The Health Ministry has issued an urgent appeal as Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure nears collapse. “There is an acute shortage of medicines and essential medical supplies in hospitals,” the ministry stated, attributing the crisis to the ongoing closure of border crossings.
“Health services and surgeries have come to a halt, especially as the number of injured people rises due to the escalation of Israeli attacks.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a broader war in Gaza, which includes the most recent wave of violence. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 166,000 Palestinians have been killed or wounded in the ongoing Israeli genocide, most of them women and children. More than 11,000 remain missing, many believed to be buried under rubble.
