DaysofPal- Health officials at Nasser Medical Complex have confirmed that more than 58,000 children have been registered as newly orphaned in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal war.
These children have lost one or both parents due to continuous airstrikes, starvation caused by the blockade, and forced displacement that persist despite the declared ceasefire.
Humanitarian organizations describe the crisis as “an unprecedented human tragedy”, warning that this may be one of the largest waves of orphaning in modern history.
Many of these children are now living in makeshift tents, bombed-out schools, and overcrowded UN shelters with no access to adequate food, medical care, or psychological support.
Social workers in Khan Younis and Rafah say that trauma among Gaza’s orphans has reached “critical levels.”
Many children suffer from severe nightmares, fear of loud sounds, and depression after witnessing the killing of their parents or relatives.
Psychologists warn that without urgent international intervention, an entire generation may grow up with deep emotional scars and no stable support system.
The Ministry of Health condemned what it called “the world’s deadly silence,” saying that Gaza’s children have become “the witnesses and survivors of a crime unfolding in broad daylight.”
Officials urged the international community to take immediate action to ensure protection, food security, and psychological rehabilitation for the surviving children of Gaza, emphasizing that “every hour of inaction costs another child their future.”
