The government media office in Gaza has confirmed that the Israeli occupation military spread misinformation about the Nuseirat massacre on Friday, June 7, 2024.
The office asserts that the names listed by Israel include people who are still alive, travelers abroad, and martyrs from different events.
False Claims
In a statement received by Days of Palestine, the Gaza government media office said the Israeli occupation army released a list of supposed victims from the Nuseirat massacre, including photos. However, the list was found to be fabricated.
Three people named in the list are alive, including a citizen living abroad. The list also misrepresents individuals killed at different times and places:
- Maged Atef Darwish: Killed in Al-Maghazi camp on Wednesday.
- Maher Mahmoud Fadel: Killed in Al-Bureij camp on Wednesday.
- Motasem Mufeed Shaqra: Killed in front of his home in Al-Bureij camp.
- Hajj Jamil Al-Maqadma: Died naturally in 2017.
Child Victims
Contradicting Israeli claims, the media office listed child victims of the massacre. The Israeli occupation also claimed it did not kill any children in the Nuseirat massacre. Contrarily, the media office provided names of child victims, refuting these assertions
- Mahmoud Sami Faraj Allah, 11
- Hassan Aqab Abu Daher, 15
- Shaheen Mahmoud Abu Sharif,8
- Ibrahim Abu Daher, 12
- Mahmoud Al-Muhtasib, 9
- Saher Ahmed Al-Qreinawi, 16
- Ahmed Mohammed Hussein, 10
- Noor Mohammed Hussein, 12
- Mohammed Eyad Sleila, 8
- Retaj Eyad Sleila, 15
- Omar Said Issa, 14
- Abdullah Said Issa, 10
Two unidentified child victims also arrived dismembered.
Civilian Impact
The list includes civilians and women killed in the massacre. The media office accused the Israeli military of deliberately targeting civilians, especially children and women, in an effort to commit genocide and worsen Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.
Additionally, the Gaza media office condemned the Israeli actions and false narratives, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable for crimes against humanity and international law. It called for global condemnation and legal action against those responsible for the atrocities.
On Thursday morning, the Israeli warplanes committed a horrific massacre that resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of displaced persons in Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The airstrikes bombed the Nuseirat Boys’ Preparatory School 2, sheltering thousands of displaced persons. The strike targeted an entire floor of the UNRWA school, causing numerous casualties, most of whom were children and women, with some victims’ bodies arriving in pieces.
