DayofPal—Director-general of Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Munir Al-Bursh, warns of Israel’s deliberate manipulation of aid, saying that “What enters Gaza Strip isn’t aid so much as it’s a cruel mockery of death.”
He says that while non-essential goods such as sweets and soft drinks are being allowed into the enclave, critical supplies, including fuel, medicine, and basic food, remain severely restricted.
According to Al-Bursh, this imbalance is not incidental but reflects a deliberate manipulation of aid, one that obscures ongoing starvation and suffering despite claims of a ceasefire.
“Chocolate means nothing to a child struggling to breathe inside an incubator at risk of shutting down,” he says.
Hospitals are under extreme strain, particularly Al-Shifa Hospital, where doctors struggle to keep vulnerable patients alive amid severe fuel shortages.
Infants in incubators are especially at risk, as the electricity needed to sustain them cannot be guaranteed.
He adds: “Calories mean nothing to a mother watching a monitor that could switch off at any moment, taking her baby’s life.”
He emphasizes that the aid entering Gaza fails to meet urgent medical and humanitarian needs, describing it as inadequate and misaligned with the reality on the ground.
Allowing snacks items while blocking life-saving essentials contributes to a worsening crisis and compounds the suffering of civilians, he added.
