Gaza City, the largest and most densely populated city in the Gaza Strip, has been subjected to a relentless and indiscriminate bombing campaign by the Israeli occupation forces for the past 31 days. The airstrikes have targeted every place in the city, including residential buildings, schools, hospitals, mosques, and infrastructure. The Palestinian health ministry says that the airstrikes affected every single health facility in Gaza City during the night of November 5th, 2023, leaving many of them damaged or destroyed.
The night of November 5th was one of the most horrific nights in the history of Gaza, as Israeli warplanes unleashed a massive barrage of bombs and missiles on the city, turning it into a hell on earth. The airstrikes targeted entire neighborhoods in Gaza’s Beach Camp, Al-Zeitoon area, Tal Al-Hawwa neighborhood, and Al-Mashaala neighborhood in Central Gaza. Many massacres were reported, with rescue teams still trying to save Palestinians trapped under the rubble of their homes. The sound of explosions and screams filled the air, creating a scene of terror and despair.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, the death toll from the Israeli aggression on Gaza has reached at least 10,000 civilians, including 5,000 children. The ministry also said that at least 25,000 Palestinians were wounded with different degrees of injuries, many of them in critical condition. The ministry warned that the number of casualties could rise as more bodies are recovered from the debris.
The Israeli occupation forces have justified their war crimes on Gaza as a response to the attack occurred on October 7th. However, human rights groups and international observers have condemned Israel’s disproportionate and excessive use of force, which violates the principles of international humanitarian law and amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The international community has been largely silent and complicit in the face of the Israeli ongoing atrocities in Gaza, despite the repeated calls for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire by the United Nations, the Arab League, and several countries. The United States, Israel’s main ally and arms supplier, has blocked several attempts by the UN Security Council to issue a statement calling for a halt to the hostilities, while expressing its unwavering support for Israel’s controversial “right to self-defense.”
The people of Gaza, who have been living under a crippling Israeli siege for more than 16 years, are facing a humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the unprecedented Israeli onslaught. They are suffering from a severe shortage of food, water, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies, as well as the spread of diseases. They are also living in constant fear and trauma, as they have nowhere to hide or escape from the Israeli bombs.
The Palestinian resistance factions have vowed to continue their struggle against the Israeli occupation and aggression, saying that they will not surrender or compromise their rights and dignity. They have also called on the international community and the Arab and Muslim world to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and to take concrete actions to end the Israeli occupation and oppression.
