The six “Galboua prison escapees continue to endure harsh detention conditions and severe punishments from the Israeli occupation’s prison administration, Palestinian sources revealed on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated that the six prisoners, who managed to escape from the “Jalboua” detention tunnel in September 2021, are being held in isolation cells that lack the minimum human living conditions.
In a statement issued on Wednesday morning, the Commission reported that the detainees are subjected to a continuous series of oppressive measures and punishments that worsen their already difficult detention circumstances.
Lawyer Kareem Ajwa reported that prisoner Ayham Kamamji is confined to extremely inadequate isolation rooms unsuitable for human habitation.
The “Kamamji” room is subjected to daily inspections by the guards, in addition to monthly inspections carried out by special units belonging to the prison administration.
The Prisoners Commission confirmed that Ayham Kamamji faces ongoing rejection of all requests he submits to the prison administration.
Among the requests that Kamamji had submitted and were rejected is permission to purchase a device for natural therapy due to severe muscle tension.
On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners managed to dig a tunnel beneath the Jalboua prison and enjoyed their freedom for several days until the Israeli forces re-arrested them, imposing sanctions, including isolation, and initiating trials against them since then. Those who offered them assistance are also being prosecuted.
