DaysofPal- The health ministry of Gaza has warned of “a real disaster” because there is no fuel left in any of the enclave’s hospitals, oxygen stations, medicine refrigerators, and nurseries that are still in operation.
“The Israeli occupation forces aid convoys, including fuel trucks, to take roads filled with thieves and bandits to steal them under its protection,” the ministry said, adding that the latest shipment of fuel was stolen yesterday as it was on its way to hospitals.
As the situation becomes increasingly critical, the Health Ministry has urgently appealed to international and humanitarian organizations for intervention. “We reiterate our call to all concerned international and humanitarian institutions to urgently intervene to provide and secure fuel to operate generators in hospitals and health centers in the Gaza Strip,” the ministry added.
In addition to the fuel crisis, a series of Israeli airstrikes have targeted the vicinity of the destroyed Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, located in northern Gaza. These attacks further crippled Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure. Two additional public hospitals in the northern Gaza governorate were also taken out of service due to Israeli bombings, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Israeli tanks bombed the southern area of the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in Gaza City, although no immediate casualties were reported.
The ongoing attacks on healthcare facilities have compounded the challenges faced by medical teams in Gaza. Last week, a UN report highlighted the catastrophic impact of Israeli strikes on hospitals and their surroundings, noting that these assaults have pushed the territory’s healthcare system “to the brink of total collapse,” severely limiting Palestinians’ access to necessary medical care.
Gaza’s already dire humanitarian situation is made worse by the ongoing fuel crisis, the blockade, and the destruction of medical facilities. Hospitals and healthcare centers are struggling to provide essential services due to severe shortages of both medical supplies and energy resources. Without immediate intervention, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is poised to worsen dramatically, with thousands of lives at risk.
The shortage of fuel, along with the continuous strikes on medical infrastructure, underscores the urgent need for global action to prevent a complete healthcare collapse in Gaza.
