DaysofPal — A Palestinian prisoners’ rights organization has reported serious and shocking violations against Palestinian female detainees held in Damon Prison, citing accounts of violent repression, verbal sexual harassment, and systematic medical neglect.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Prisoners’ Information Office, Israeli forces carried out repeated raids on sections of the prison, using stun grenades and police dogs, in addition to direct physical assaults on the detainees.
The group said that during these raids, prisoners were threatened at gunpoint while handcuffed and blindfolded, leading to injuries and widespread panic among the women.
Leaked testimonies from inside the prison reportedly describe the organization as exhibiting sadistic and unethical behavior by Israeli soldiers.
Female detainees were allegedly subjected to verbal sexual harassment and degrading insults that violated their dignity.
The statement added that soldiers used explicit and offensive language during acts of abuse, while forcing detainees to lie on the ground under threat of weapons.
On the health front, the organization warned of the policy of deliberate medical neglect, or slow killing, with detainees reportedly denied access to essential medical examinations, treatment, and pain relief.
It noted that several prisoners suffer from chronic illnesses and serious injuries resulting from recent crackdowns carried out by special prison units inside detention rooms.
The group stressed that these escalating actions constitute a blatant violation of international conventions, calling on global human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop the abuses and provide immediate protection for Palestinian female detainees.
Earlier, the Palestinian Prisoners Club said that the period coinciding with the latest war has seen a significant escalation in repression inside Israeli prisons, particularly through systematic crackdowns.
It identified Damon Prison as one of the facilities witnessing a sharp rise in such violations.
According to the latest available Palestinian data, Israeli occupation continues to detain 88 female prisoners, most of whom are held in Damon Prison, in addition to others in interrogation and detention centers.
