Late Monday, July 1st, 2024, the European Hospital in Khan Younis, one of the last functioning hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip, was forced to evacuate its patients after Israeli military ordered it to do so.
‘Israel’, after Monday midday, threw evacuation orders’ papers at the eastern parts of Khan Younis, demanding all residents there, including the European hospital, to immediately leave four selected places in preparation for a military invasion into the eastern areas.
According to AlJazeera footage, medical teams were working to transfer essential devices and equipment as well as the patients to Nasser Hospital, in the middle of Khan Younis, showing entire departments of the hospital being emptied, including areas housing patients and tents for the displaced.People were also seen sleeping in the streets of Khan Younis as having no refuge.
The European Hospital was one of the last remaining operational hospitals in the southern part of the Gaza Strip and the possibility of repeating it again after the invasion is likely to happen.
Gaza Government media office said on June 27, that 33 hospitals and 66 m medical centers have been rendered out of service since last October.
