The European Palestinian Center for Political Relations EUPAC invited the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to participate in a conference it organizes on the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Catastrophe “Nakba”.
EUPAC’s invitation came after Ursula von der Leyen made controversial statements in which she congratulated the Israeli occupation state and expressed her admiration of Israeli democracy and reclamation of the Palestinian territories.
Der Leyen stated she likes the friendly relations between the Israeli occupation and Europe as hundreds of thousands of European citizens are citizens in the Israeli occupation’s state that was built on the promise of God.
She added that relations between Europe and Israel are based on sharing ideals, morals and freedom, saying :” Your freedom is our freedom and Happy New Year.”
In response to der Leyen remarks, EUPAC organizes a conference on the Palestinian Nakba on 2nd of May 2023 in the European Press Club, which is adjacent to the office of der Leyen, that has been approved by the United Nations to be revived and entitled (75 Years of an Ongoing Nakba).
Signed by EUPAC CEO Majid Al-Zeer and EUPAC Coordinator Ahmed Frasini, the invitation came as a response to der Leyen’s message, using the same terms she used in her message to the Israeli occupation.
EUPAC’s invitation explained that the Palestinian people have been suffering the NAKBA at hands of the Israeli occupation since 75 years, which was supported by the European colonizer who caused their Nakba.
It explained that the Israeli occupation’s state will never be a state of freedoms, but rather substitution and apartheid regime that uproots the Palestinian people from their land, and leaves seven million Palestinians as refugees after destroying more than 531 villages and cities, killing more than a hundred thousand Palestinians, and detaining more than one million Palestinians including those who died in prisons and those whose bodies were not released yet.
EUPAC stressed in the invitation that der Leyen is aware of what is happening on the ground, especially after she visited the Holy Land last year.
Moreover, EUPAC indicated that hundreds of thousands of Europeans who hold Israeli citizenship had participated in the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.
It noted that the Palestinian people as well as the Palestinian Europeans are the ones who share the Europeans the ideals and principles including renunciation of wars, stopping crimes against humanity and confiscating the right of peoples to self-determination.
EUPAC invited der Leyen to participate in the Nakba Conference and confirm attendance by sending an e-mail or phone call.
