EU: High levels of settler violence only increase tension and Palestinians must be protected

The European Union said that the extreme Israeli settlers’ violence only increased tension in the area and that Palestinians must be protected in accordance with Israel’s obligations under international law.

The Union stressed in a statement today, Monday, that it is imperative to prevent further acts of violence now, especially before the holy month of Ramadan, which coincides with the Christian and Jewish Easter holidays in the coming month of April.

Settlers launched several attacks last night and in the early hours of dawn, today against Palestinian citizens in several areas. These acts varied from burning cars to damaging commercial buildings in different parts of the West Bank, injuring a number of citizens.

Jerusalem, March 28, 2022, WAFA – Dozens of settlers in groups stormed, today, Monday, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the protection of the Israeli occupation police.

This comes as incursions and break-ins by the Israeli settlers and under the protection of the occupation forces continue. These raids occur in two shifts, morning and evening, in an attempt to change the status quo at Al-Aqsa and try to divide it in time.

It is worth mentioning that the current aggressive settlers’ activities come as no surprise as it is an outcome of perpetual encouragement. As seen, heard and written Israeli media promotes hate speech according to reports done by Wafaa, a Palestinian news outlet.

Many Israeli writers such as Yishai Friedman, Esther Lutsato, Naom Amer are starting a crusade against Palestinians living inside so-called Israel. They called for discrimination and antagonizing of Palestinians. They also called for the collective punishment of the Palestinian through enforcing new punitive measures and laws against Arabs in the area.

The Israeli Channel 14 went further and encouraged Israeli settlers to form militias and to take things into their own hands, according to reports. These Zionist racist outlets take the stabbing incident that occurred in the region (in Beersheba) as a pretext to harm and attack innocent people.
