The relentless Israeli violence continues to exact a heavy toll on Palestinian lives, with new figures from the Palestinian data center, “Mu’ti,” painting a harrowing picture.
According to the data, as many as 203 Palestinians have tragically been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of this year, while three were killed while preparing to confront Israeli incursions.
Jenin
The city of Jenin, located in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, has endured the worst of Israeli brutality, with the data center indicating that 64 Palestinians were killed in the area during this period.
The recent military campaign launched by Israel in Jenin, deploying over 1,000 troops resulted in 13 fatalities and 500 injuries in addition to mass destruction.
The events in Jenin serve as a somber reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the Palestinian people across occupied Palestine.
The data center further revealed that 46 Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire in Nablus, another city in the northern West Bank, over the past seven months. Additionally, 37 individuals were massacred in the Gaza Strip.
Gaza Assault
In May 2023, the Gaza Strip witnessed a devastating escalation of violence as Israeli forces launched a series of aggressive attacks.
The assault, which lasted for several days, resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life. The heavy bombardment targeted residential areas, vital infrastructure, and civilian facilities, causing immense suffering and displacing countless Palestinians.
The Israeli military operation elicited international condemnation for its disproportionate use of force and disregard for civilian lives.
37 Palestinians, including six children, were massacred during the Israeli violent strikes targeting several areas across the besieged Gaza Strip.
Ongoing Shooting Attacks
Moreover, 11 Palestinian citizens were killed in Ramallah, while 10 were killed in al-Khalil (Hebron) in the southern part of the Palestinian territory. Furthermore, eight individuals fell victim to Israeli attacks in the holy city of al-Quds (Jerusalem).
The report also highlighted the loss of six lives in Tulkarem, four in Qalqilya and Bethlehem, and two each in Tubas and Salfit—cities scattered throughout the West Bank. Tragically, three individuals were killed in the 1948-present occupied territories.
The lives of Palestinian people under Israeli occupation are marred by a distressing reality of violence, crimes, and daily violations.
Palestinians endure a multitude of challenges as they face frequent incidents of brutality, including extrajudicial killings, demolitions of homes and infrastructure, arbitrary arrests and detentions, land confiscation, and restrictions on freedom of movement.
