DayofPal— Newly released documents from the so-called Epstein files shows that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein maintained ties with US and Israeli intelligence agencies and that US President Donald Trump was “compromised by Israel,” according to a declassified FBI memo.
The documents, written in 2020 and released on Friday, draw on information provided by a confidential human source (CHS) and form part of FBI records related to Epstein.
The memo clarifies that Epstein was “co-opted” by Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and had close links with senior Israeli political figures, including former Prime Minister Ehud Barak.
According to the memo, the CHS became convinced Epstein was acting as a Mossad asset, citing previous FBI reporting. It further shows that Epstein was close to Barak and had been trained as a spy during Barak’s earlier career in Israeli military intelligence.
Epstein and Barak reportedly maintained a relationship spanning more than a decade. Barak is said to have visited Epstein’s New York townhouse more than 30 times between 2013 and 2017.
An email exchange included in the documents shows Epstein telling Barak, “you should make clear that I don’t work for Mossad,” to which Barak replied, “You or I?” Epstein responded: “that I don’t.”
The files also link intelligence-related accusations to Epstein’s controversial 2008 plea deal. According to the memo, then–US Attorney Alex Acosta was told that Epstein “belonged to intelligence.”
The conversation reportedly involved Epstein’s lawyer, pro-Israel academic Alan Dershowitz. The CHS further said that Dershowitz himself had been “co-opted by Mossad,” though no evidence beyond the source’s claim is provided in the document.
An email dated September 7, 2016, included in the files, shows Barak asking Epstein to help arrange an interview with Donald Trump for Israel’s Channel 10 during the US presidential campaign.
Barak noted that Channel 2 had already secured an exclusive interview with Hillary Clinton and said a Trump interview would attract significant Israeli viewership. He added that Channel 10 was prepared to send a leading anchor to the US.
The memo also includes accusations related to the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. According to the CHS, Chabad sought to exert influence over Trump’s presidency during his first term.
The document describes Chabad as a powerful religious network with political influence and cites Berel Lazar, a Chabad member and Russia’s former chief rabbi, as a close adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The memo identifies Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as a supporter of Chabad and a central figure within Trump’s inner circle. It notes that on the day Trump was elected president, Kushner and Ivanka Trump visited the grave of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, a prominent Chabad leader.
The CHS is quoted in the memo as stating: “Trump has been compromised by Israel,” adding that Kushner was “the real brains behind his organization and his presidency.”
