Dozens of Palestinians, including children, sustained inhalation injuries as Israeli forces fired toxic gas bombs during a military raid into Beita town, south of Nablus, at Saturday dawn, September 16th, 2023.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli occupation forces stormed Beita after midnight and cordoned off several houses at 1 a.m., terrifying children and women.
The soldiers broke into the residents’ houses, and wreaked havoc on them, smashing doors and windows and vandalizing citizens’ property, said an eyewitness.
Beita residents said that the military army pushed heavy reinforcements into the place, containing hundreds of soldiers, who were immediately deployed in the town and dozens of military vehicles, which were stationed in the streets. All the town’s entrances were blocked, denying entry and exit of Palestinians.
On social media, Palestinian activists published many videos documenting the moment Israeli occupation soldiers indiscriminately fired gas bombs inside Beita houses and alleys. Other videos showed Palestinian men being handcuffed, blindfolded and dragged into Israeli military vehicles.
As a result, many residents fled their attacked places to safer zones, yet many causalities were reported accordingly, including infants, children, and women.
A man said that his one-year-old child was severely suffocated, and others experienced extreme breathing difficulty due to gas intensity in the space.
Red Crescent reported today that at least 63 Palestinians were wounded due to the outbreak of confrontations with Israeli forces in the town of Beita.
Beita has been under frequent Israeli incursions for days, with confrontations usually taking place between Palestinian stone-throwing youths and Israeli military soldiers over punitive measures Israeli forces have taken against the town, including blocking roads linking it to its surroundings.
