Al-Hadidi remembers His Four Children Who Were Martyred at Recent Aggression on Gaza

Palestinian Mohammed al-Hadidi carries his son Omar, who was pulled alive from under the rubble while his mother and four siblings were killed on 15 May during the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, at his home on the Shati refugee camp in Gaza city marking Palestinian Children's Day on April 5, 2022 . After the strikes, rescue workers pulled the five-month-old baby from the arms of his dead mother resulting three fractures on one of his little legs, now he is being solely cared for by his devoted father Mohammed al-Hadidi, after they lost all their family members and their home during the May 15 Israeli airstrikes on the Shati refugee camp. Gaza – The month of Ramadan returns in a different way to Palestinian Mohammed Al-Hadidi, who lost four of his children and his wife in the latest Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Al-Hadidi says that he used to come during Ramadan with his children around him, but this year he is sitting alone with his child Omar (a year and a half), who is the only survivor of the family.

He mentioned the most important difficulties he faces in raising a child Omar, “Nothing can compensate for the mother’s tenderness, despite allocating most of my time to my child Omar, but he still suffers from malnutrition and underweight, due to his dependence on formula milk mainly in his food.”

Al-Hadidi touched on the responsibilities that he has taken on again so that he can be a father and mother to his child Omar, “I constantly go to Omar’s periodic check-up, check his weight and follow up on his food, so that he is in better condition, despite the many other responsibilities to provide him with a decent life.”

He expressed his grief, “After the loss of my four children, the features of life have disappeared, I do not feel anything except extreme sadness and oppression.”

Al-Hadidi stated that he avoids sitting in his house alone, so as not to be overwhelmed by grief and his child Omar, so he is always keen to mix with members of his family.

He explained his fears for the future of his child Omar, as he is lonely and vulnerable to mental disorders, in the event that he does not mix permanently with his family and friends in the future.

Al-Hadidi noted his focus on integrating his child Omar with his relatives, in an attempt to compensate for the loss of his four brothers, so that he would not be psychologically affected by being alone for long periods.

He referred to the calls of the international community to protect children in the world, but the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the children of Gaza are not being held accountable for them.

Al-Hadidi demanded that the Israeli occupation should be prosecuted in international courts for committing war crimes against Palestinian children.

He pointed out that the Palestinian child is living in compelling conditions in Gaza City, in light of the repeated Israeli attacks, and the direct targeting of children.

According to Al-Hadidi, “While fathers and mothers are held accountable if their children are abused in European countries, the children of the Gaza Strip are bombed by Israeli missiles without any fault.”

He noted the lack of children’s rights in the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the lack of security and repeated attacks by the Israeli occupation against them.

Al-Hadidi sent a message to the international community, “Where are you from what is happening to the children in the Gaza Strip, at a time when the child must live in luxury, the Palestinian children are living under the violence and aggression of the Israeli occupation.”

Al-Hadidi lost four of his children and his wife during the bombing of his house in the Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, on May 15, 2021, while his child Omar is the only survivor of his five children, who was pulled out from the ruins of their house.
