Five Palestinians were killed on Friday, 8 March 2024 by airdropped aid boxes in Gaza because parachutes failed to open, highlighting the problem of getting desperately needed humanitarian relief into Gaza amid Israeli blockade.
Palestinians urged the US to stop supplying the Israeli military with military supplies and weapons following an announcement by President Joe Biden of a plan to build a temporary pier on Gaza’s coastline to allow aid to enter. The plan has been criticized as “not realistic” and a “distraction”.
Israeli military attacks killed at least 11 Palestinians and wounded many more in the city of Deir el-Balah.
At least 30,878 Palestinians have been killed and 72,402 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
