DaysofPal- The Palestinian Police announced on Saturday that more than 34,000 Palestinian citizens and visitors crossed the Allenby Bridge border crossing, east of the occupied West Bank, during the past week.
In a press statement, the police said that 16,299 travelers departed through the crossing, while 18,466 arrived, noting that passenger movement remained “active” throughout the reporting period.
The police also said they coordinated the transfer of seven medical cases between both sides of the crossing using Palestinian ambulances as part of efforts to facilitate travel for patients requiring medical transport.
During the same period, authorities arrested 39 individuals wanted by the judiciary or subject to travel bans. The arrests took place either as the individuals attempted to leave through the crossing or upon their arrival into the Palestinian territories. According to the statement, those detained were wanted in connection with cases before the courts and the Public Prosecution.
The Palestinian Police added that, in cooperation with the security and civil agencies operating under the General Administration of Crossings and Borders, several services and travel facilitation measures were provided to citizens throughout the week, including coordinating seven medical transfers.
The Al-Karameh Crossing, also known as the King Hussein Bridge, is the only land gateway connecting Palestinians in the occupied West Bank to the outside world via the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It links the city of Jericho with the Jordanian capital, Amman, while movement through the crossing remains subject to procedures and restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities.
