Maldives Bans Israeli Passport Holders Over Gaza Assault

The Maldives has officially barred entry to Israeli passport holders, a move announced by President Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday in response to Israel’s “brutal military campaign” in Gaza.

The decision comes after the ratification of the Third Amendment to the Maldives Immigration Act, which was approved by the People’s Majlis on April 15, according to a statement released by the President’s Office.

In a Facebook post, President Muizzu called the amendment a “clear reflection of our stand against the ongoing atrocities in Palestine,” and said the Indian Ocean archipelago “reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

The President’s Office reiterated that the amendment reflects the government’s “firm stance in response to the continuing atrocities and ongoing acts of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.”

“The Maldives continues to advocate for accountability for violations of international law and remains vocal across various international platforms in its condemnation of Israel’s actions,” the statement added.

The government further reaffirmed its consistent support for the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital—aligning with long-standing United Nations resolutions and international legal principles.
