Haniyeh Calls for Large-Scale Mobilisation Amidst Al-Aqsa Flood Operation

On Friday, May 31st, 2024, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, issued a call for widespread mobilization to capitalize on the strategic opportunity presented by the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7.

He urged the consolidation of Arab efforts against what he described as the fascist Israeli adversary and called for immense participation alongside the Palestinian people in their resistance against normalization policies.

During his address at the Arab National Security Conference, Haniyeh outlined a comprehensive action plan tailored to the ongoing war, emphasizing the transformative nature of the post-October 7 landscape.

He lauded the contributions of Arab parties and forces present at the conference in Beirut, commending their support for Gaza and the Palestinian resistance, and their role in safeguarding the Palestinian cause—an issue he deemed central to collective Arab endeavors.

Haniyeh asserted that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation had elevated the Palestinian issue to unprecedented global prominence, facilitating the recognition of Palestinian rights. He underscored the paramount right of Palestinians to establish their own state on their historical land, a goal that, according to him, diplomatic and political efforts have thus far failed to achieve.

Haniyeh emphasized that Al-Aqsa Flood operation delivered a critical blow to the occupation’s strategic position as the regional enforcer, eroding the deterrence advantage it once boasted.

He remarked, “The occupation failed to achieve its primary objectives—displacement, the elimination of resistance, and the forcible recovery of its hostages—due solely to the valiant resistance and legendary steadfastness of our people, the unity of the resistance fronts, and the exemplary performance of the Arab elites.”

Addressing those speculating about the aftermath of the war, Haniyeh declared, “They will be suffocated by the rope of their illusions, and they will not find anyone among our people who will accept an alternative to resistance.”

Regarding the discussions on a new Israeli stance on exchange and ceasefire agreements, Haniyeh affirmed, “The resistance has reiterated to mediators that the established principles of the resistance factions remain non-negotiable.

These principles include the permanent cessation of aggression, the comprehensive withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from Gaza, the lifting of the siege, reconstruction, and an honorable prisoner exchange deal, all in pursuit of our Palestinian people’s rights and aspirations for freedom, return, and independence.”
