Late Tuesday, the Israeli army declared it has launched deadly air attacks on central Gaza as its forces has been advancing into the Bureij refugee camp for the second time in war, killing over 13 Palestinians.
This developments came a day after four residential buildings, Al-Maghari, Al-Quds, Hamad, and Al-Ahlam, were targeted by Israeli heavy missiles in Al-Bureij camp in the Middle Area.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Gaza reported that Israel’s bombardment of central Gaza on Tuseday has resulted in at least 66 fatalities over the past 24 hours.
However, local media sources said the death toll has just hit 80 people who were killed by the Israeli airstrike central Gaza in the last 24 hours.
The al-Bureij and Maghazi refugee camps bore the brunt of the assaults, with Israeli forces asserting their operations targeted Hamas positions, guided by precise intelligence as ground troops maneuver within the al-Bureij camp.
Many displaced Palestinians have since fled al-Bureij, which is one of the places that hosted displaced Palestinians escaping the southern city of Rafah following Israel’s latest operations in the former shelter city.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, the only medical facility offering services in central Gaza, is currently “overflowing with wounded people”, many of whom are being treated on the floor, according to a spokesperson from the Gaza health ministry.
The hospital’s administration warned that Israeli military operations in the central areas would lead to many casualties and this exceeds the hospital capability of treatment and offering all services.
The sudden military operations in central areas coincide with ceasefire talks between ‘Israel’ and Hamas.
U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan disclosed that the United States is “awaiting a response from Hamas” concerning ceasefire negotiations. The Palestinian faction has stipulated conditions for a complete ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip as prerequisites for any agreement.
